Print & Physical Production
From screen to paper, fabric and vinyl — resolution, bleed, colour and the specs printers expect.
Print is where resolution stops being abstract. The paper size is fixed, so fewer pixels simply means each pixel prints bigger and blurrier — and unlike a website, you can't fix it after delivery.
These articles cover what each kind of print job actually needs: the pixel requirements per size (which are much lower for posters than for photo prints, because viewing distance changes everything), bleed and safe areas, colour mode, and the file formats printers expect. They also cover the physical constraints that catch people out — the gutter in a photo book, the wrap around a canvas, the cassette that swallows the bottom of a roll-up banner, and the white border that makes a die-cut sticker survive cutting tolerance.
